Lucinda Williams' former guitarist steps out with a rangy set of roots-rock and countrified R&B, sung with a dry, Mick Jagger-ish drawl. Like Williams, with whom he wrote two songs here, Jarvis walks the dark end of the street, balancing the vagaries of love with intoxicated humor. Buddy Miller and Joy Lynn White add requisite angst.
