Hot Spot

The Wakaya Club, Fiji WHAT The site of Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe's supposed ''romantic rendezvous,'' followed by a Tom Cruise getaway, this tropical hideaway lies on the 2,200-acre private island of Wakaya. Visitors are housed in nine beachfront bures (Fijian cottages), with lava-rock showers, bamboo beds, and a staff of 12 per couple. For those willing to shell out $3,500 to $6,500 per night, there's ''Vale O'' -- the 12,000-square-foot villa of island owners David and Jill Gilmour, which offers panoramic views of the Pacific, as well as a cliff-side pool complete with spa and remote-controlled waterfall. Personal chef and chauffeur included. WHO Management is mum, but according to Bill Whiting of the Fiji Visitors Bureau, Michelle Pfeiffer and Jim Carrey have also sought refuge here. ''The Fijian people are unaffected by the hype,'' says Whiting. Making them a rare breed indeed.
