THE CHARTS

THE A-TEAM

Not since David Letterman attempted to introduce Uma to Oprah has there been such a face-off between like-monikered maidens. But although she might get first billing in the phone book, Aaliyah had to settle for second place in the SoundScan sweepstakes, selling 187,000 of her first release in five years. Alicia continued to hold the keys to the kingdom, with her Songs in A Minor moving a major-league 223,000 units, up a thousand from last week's chart-topping figures. Foxy Brown broke into the henhouse at No. 5 with 131,000 copies, with wily coyotes Kurupt and Craig David not far behind at Nos. 10 (84,000) and 11 (79,000), respectively.
