Composer John Williams tends to bathe any film, science fiction included, in the seemingly timeless emotion of an old-fashioned symphonic score -- which is apt enough for this Spielberg saga of a robot boy programmed for love. The soundtrack starts strongly with minimalist-derived rhythmic pulsations under spine-tingling, blockbuster-worthy climaxes, but the epic mood is dispelled with the sub-Celine balladry of Lara Fabian on ''For Always,'' a so-so tune that thinks it's a hit and repeats itself often enough to become one.
