The sun has set on ''Baywatch,'' but David Hasselhoff is revving up another TV comeback with a new version of his '80s talking-car series ''Knight Rider.'' (Two '90s series revivals stalled.) ''We're taking it way into the future with my character, Michael Knight, coming out of retirement and hiring a couple of young kids,'' says the former ''Baywatch'' head lifeguard. ''I'll be the older, cool boss who oversees this incredibly updated car.'' Hasselhoff thinks now might be ''Knight'' time: There's an animated version under discussion, and merchandising interest from toy companies. Screen Actors Guild president William Daniels, who provided KITT the car's original voice, is apparently on board. ''I had breakfast with KITT, and he said, 'I'd love to come back, Michael,''' says Hasselhoff. ''So the president gave me his word. It's going to happen.''
