Jennifer Jason Leigh and Alan Cumming cowrote, codirected, and costar in The Anniversary Party, a self-absorbed, Big Chill-ish ensemble piece shot on digital video. The improv-like drama about pretty people and pretty problems in the Hollywood Hills, set in a pristine 1953 Richard Neutra-designed California house, is a catalog of interior decorating ideas, interrupted by fits of thespian fervor. The cool-world posse of actors includes Kevin Kline, Phoebe Cates, Parker Posey, John C. Reilly, and Gwyneth Paltrow.
