Anyone who's wondered if there's more to Parnell than his three-minute hits will find the answer on this satisfying set of Texas soul, roadhouse rock, and Southern boogie. Keb' Mo', Bonnie Bramlett, and Delbert McClinton add grit and grime, while Parnell's long guitar solos reveal an after-hours bluesman beneath that predictable Nashville flash. Nice surprise.
