ULTRAVIOLET (2012)

EW's GRADE
B+

Details With: Jack Davenport and Susannah Harker

It's like The X-Files, but with vampires. No, wait. It's like The X-Files, but really well-mannered, what with it being a British miniseries and all. The undead walk among us and have left mankind alone for centuries, but thanks to humanity's newfound capacity for self-annihilation these ''leeches'' will go to any lengths to save us. We are, after all, food. Of course, there's a secret government team -- four gits, led by Davenport (The Talented Mr. Ripley), who look awful good in trench coats -- set to stop them. Creepily understated -- the word vampire is never actually spoken -- and rich with postmod mythology, Ultraviolet is the perfect respite for summer days when you've had a bit too much sun.
