SWEEPING UP
Who's winning the May sweeps? Well, it depends on how you look at it. NBC continued to dominate in the all-hallowed 18-49 demographic, thanks to Thursday-night heroes Friends (7th), ER (1st), and Will & Grace (17th), but CBS is the uncontested winner (thus far) in terms of total viewers. Even so, part 1 of CBS' bombshell biopic Blonde (36th), starring Poppy Montgomery, was overshadowed by ABC's Sunday-night combo--the Wonderful World of Disney's Child Star: The Shirley Temple Story (26th), Millionaire (6th), and the fifth-season ender of The Practice (2nd). Norma Jeane did take down NBC's SNL Mother's Day Special (50th), however. When it comes to stunt programming, viewers chose CBS' you-can-go-home-again special Survivor: Back From the Outback (10th) over NBC's celebrity Survivor edition of Weakest Link (22nd).
