Suburban Light (2008)

The London trio has been compared to such mope masters as Belle & Sebastian and Nick Drake, neither of whom they sound anything like. In fact, the band's echoey retro-pop is quite cheery, closer to ''Sunday Morning'' Velvets and sunny '60s lightweights like Chad & Jeremy. This lovely compilation -- recently released in the U.S. -- collects the hard-to-find singles the lads have quietly put out since 1997. So when are they finally going to release a proper album?
