WINGS OF DESIRE
You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs. We look around us and we see it isn't so! In an improbable coincidence, both albums debuting in the top 10 this week feature Paul McCartney's "Silly Love Songs"--the first, the original version on Macca's career summary, Wingspan; the second, a snippet performed by Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor on the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. Abetted by a TV special, Wingspan flapped to No. 2 on sales of 220,000. Rouge sold 118,000 for a No. 5 bow, boosted by the "Lady Marmalade" single. Vis-a-vis Destiny's Child, 359,000 more customers opened the door and let 'em in.
