FAMILY MAN Quaid is head of the household in ''Grubbs''
The Grubbs: Fox

The British Invasion Englishmen Mark Addy (''The Full Monty'') and Alfred Molina (''Prick Up Your Ears'') try to pass themselves off as Americans in their CBS sitcoms, ''Still Standing'' (Mondays, 9:30-10 p.m.) and ''Bram and Alice'' (Sundays, 8-8:30 p.m.), respectively. But while the potentially amusing ''Standing'' seems like it could be called ''The King of Queens: 10 Years Later,'' ''Bram '' unfortunately looks like ''Encore! Encore! Part Deux.'' Over on The WB, Tim Curry makes no attempt to mask his accent, assuming Sebastian Cabot's role as the butler in a remake of ''Family Affair'' (Thursdays, 8-8:30 p.m.). But if he's British, why do they call him Mr. French?

Club Meds Not since newbies ''Chicago Hope'' and ''ER'' had their Thursday-at-10 p.m. throwdown way back in 1994 has there been a doctor-drama match-up like this one: ''Meds'' (ABC, Wednesdays, 10-11 p.m.) vs. ''Presidio Med'' (CBS, Wednesdays, 10-11 p.m.). For the record, ''Meds'' features a quirkier cast (John Hannah, William Fichtner) and a satirical tone, while the earnest-looking ''Presidio Med'' reunites Dana Delany with ''China Beach'' and ''ER'' vet John Wells. In the end, chances are both shows will be gasping for air opposite NBC's competition-euthanizer ''Law & Order.''

Dysfunction Junction What hath ''The Osbournes'' wrought? A new generation of f---ed-up family comedies like ''The Grubbs'' (Fox, Sundays, 9:30-10 p.m.), which typecasts Randy Quaid as the most disgusting dad since... well, his character in the ''National Lampoon's Vacation'' movies. ''The Grubbs'' are not to be confused with ''The Pitts'' (Fox, midseason), a perennially unlucky clan headed up by Dylan Baker (''Happiness''). Squabbling relatives can also be found on ''In-Laws,'' (NBC, Tuesdays, 8-8:30 p.m.), but Dennis Farina and Jean Smart's sitcom looks so derivative of ''Meet the Parents,'' it's a surprise their family isn't named Focker.
