What is the secret ingredient in the perfect Krabby patty?
It's been kept a secret from me. SpongeBob is doing his job; he's not supposed to tell anybody. I'd say the main thing would be that they're made with love, and I will say it's very possibly the Krabby patties are vegetarian. Most of the characters are seafood, and nobody wants to be a cannibal. But knowing Mr. Crab, he's kind of cheap, so who knows what he throws in there.
Any romance afoot between Pearl the whale and SpongeBob?
No, because SpongeBob is at least 18, possibly drinking age, and Pearl is under age. It wouldn't really be possible for them to date for a few years. But I doubt Pearl would want anything to do with a fry cook, anyway.
Is love ever in the cards for SpongeBob?
He may have a girlfriend someday. But he's a very childlike character, always thinking about jellyfishing and bubble blowing instead of girls.
How's the SpongeBob movie coming along?
I'm definitely excited, but it's daunting finding a story that's worthy of an hour and a half of a viewer's attention. We want to learn more about the characters and their world, so that's what I'm contemplating now. We're still formulating the deal for the movie, so there's no official story yet, but I'm just taking this time to brainstorm and open up my head.
Nickelodeon says ''SpongeBob Squarepants'' is taking a ''hiatus'' while you work on the movie version, and the last new episodes of the show will air in 2003. Is SpongeBob coming back to TV?
We're working on episodes 40 through 60 right now, and I always looked at that as a typical run for an animated show. ''Ren and Stimpy'' lasted about that long, for example. And I thought now was a good time to step aside and look at a different project. I personally think it's good not to go to the point where people don't want to see your show anymore.
