I woke up this morning in 2002, read EW, and felt that I was in a time warp. As an avid fan of Vendela Vida's first book, Girls on the Verge, I find it incredibly sexist that Matthew Flamm's piece (Books) implies that publishers' enthusiastic interest in Vida's second book stems from her association with Dave Eggers even though Vida, with an M.F.A. from Columbia, published her first book before Eggers published his.
