Details Lead Performance: Darius Rucker; Genre: Rock

You don't know what you got 'til it's gone. While critics bitched about the deep blandness of Hootie & the Blowfish, the band had two things worth crowing about: Rucker's rare baritone and the band's fetching folk-rock tunes. On his solo debut, Rucker's resonating tone is intact, but the music is dull, adult R&B -- closer to soggy Brian McKnight than pert Fleetwood Mac. Come home, Hootie! All is forgiven.
