A sleep-away-camp movie from Heathers scripter Daniel Waters? Sounds promising, and he does bring a smart rebel spirit to his directorial debut about a group of stereotypical coed counselors -- the perky blonde (Lolita's Swain), troubled hunk (Renfro), and free-lovin' hippie chick (James King) -- who flirt with summer love in front of their wide-eyed young charges. But Waters, whose resume also includes Hudson Hawk, tries too hard to mix the shock of American Pie with the innocence of Meatballs and ends up with a bland dish.
