BROKEDOWN PALACE (100 mins., PG-13) Two young American women (Claire Danes and Kate Beckinsale) rot in a seedy Thai prison on drug charges in this familiar yet effective drama. Director Jonathan Kaplan (The Accused) spends the requisite amount of time fanning outrage at the horrors of a corrupt legal system. What's new and worth watching, though, is the evolving connection between the women. B-
