The latest installment from Playboy's Eros Collection tells the surprisingly intriguing story of a mysterious high-priced hooker (played with opaque complexity by Larranaga) who recounts her exotic sexploits for a dim documentarian (a flat Rand). Slowly, he becomes obsessed and falls prey to her manipulative compulsion. That could be the story line of an A-list-worthy Hollywood psychodrama, but Word of Mouth's abundant sex scenes (set, inexplicably, to sitar music) and far-fetched plot points (he interviews her therapist, repeatedly films her having sex, and the documentary's accepted to Sundance!) will constantly remind renters it's nothing more than a libidinous one-night stand.
