Three Seasons (1999)

Vietnamese-American director Tony Bui lyrically interweaves four stories of street life in modern-day Ho Chi Minh City. There's a lovely lotus peddler, a resourceful street urchin, a nobly struggling cyclo driver and the prostitute he loves, even an American vet (Keitel) searching for a daughter he's never met. Sure, they're mostly ''types,'' and Bui ties up their stories too neatly, but along the way the film offers moments of sublimely sensual beauty.
