THREE SEASONS Don Duong, Harvey Keitel (1999)

Vietnamese-American director Tony Bui lyrically interweaves four stories of street life in modern-day Ho Chi Minh City. There's a lovely lotus peddler, a resourceful street urchin, a nobly struggling cyclo driver and the prostitute he loves, even an American vet (Keitel) searching for a daughter he's never met. Sure, they're mostly ''types,'' and Bui ties up their stories too neatly, but along the way the film offers moments of sublimely sensual beauty. The Last Detail This first feature won the Grand Jury prize, the Audience award, and the Cinematography award at Sundance '99. B+
