B
At the start of this dialectical allegory, the bloody corpse of a 1930s landowner turns up on the grounds of his Austrian farm. He's willed his property to his peasants, who spend the film exhuming their pasts (in flashbacks that detail the old boss' misdeeds and undoing) and building a new social order. The film has a rustic, painterly look -- glowing grass, godly skies -- so even when its uneven critique of agrarian capitalism grows wearisome, it still looks like a million bucks.
REEL GOODIES (0:37) In a brief, Felliniesque digression, the circus comes to town, elephant and all! THE LAST DETAIL Director Stefan Ruzowitzky has reported- ly teamed up with Franka Potente (Run Lola Run) on the upcoming thriller ''Anatomie.''
