The true tale of a grizzled Iowan senior citizen (Richard Farnsworth) who makes a pilgrimage by tractor across the state line to visit his estranged brother, David Lynch's new film could be seen as the ultimate act of Lynchian perversity: a genially enraptured G-rated heartland-of-America fairy tale. It's also Lynch's first movie since Blue Velvet that truly envelops you in its spell. A-
