Body Shots (1999)

EW's GRADE
D

Details Rated: R; Length: 103 Minutes; Genre: Drama; With: Jerry O'Connell and Tara Reid

They should've called it Body Fluids: Urine, vomit, blood, snot, and tears fill this distasteful zeitgeist cocktail tracking the booze-fueled sexcapades of eight repellent L.A. singles. That other emission comes into play as evidence when the film turns into a half-baked date-rape Rashomon pitting an amateurish actress (American Pie's Tara Reid) against a pro footballer (Jerry Maguire jock Jerry O'Connell). With its callow cast — also including fledgling small-screen stars Brad Rowe (Wasteland) and Amanda Peet (Jack and Jill) — mouthing astonishingly empty platitudes (''Sex without love equals violence'') straight into the camera, Gia director Michael Cristofer's glib immorality play feels like the pilot for the worst WB drama you never saw.
