Gimme Shelter

What the celebs are buying and selling, week of Sept. 29, 1999

FOR SALE Bad-boy bachelor pad. 4 BR, 4 BTH contemporary-style home in swanky Beverly Hills. PRICE $1.36 million

Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst has found faith in a new house. The 28-year-old rocker (and head of a new yet-to-be-named label for Interscope Records) just became a first-time homeowner with this one-story abode overlooking L.A.'s Coldwater Canyon. Built in 1955, the 3,500-square-foot gated home was recently redone to include a gourmet kitchen with granite countertops and breakfast nook.

According to a source, Durst — who's moving from a rented home elsewhere in Los Angeles — was hooked by his new digs' hardwood floors and large, party-friendly living room. The house — in the same neighborhood where Don Johnson and Carrie Fisher both recently have had roosts on the market — has French doors that open onto a pool and a hot tub with unobstructed views of the San Fernando Valley. (Josie Benjamin of Fred Sands Estates had the listing.) And talk about all for the nookie: The master suite has a romantic marble fireplace and his-and-hers baths complete with Jacuzzi and a steam room. So perhaps there's room for a Significant Other?
