Matthew Perry's latest painfully schematic farce casts the Friends costar as an assumed-to-be-gay architect asked by a tycoon (Dylan McDermott) to spy on his mistress (Neve Campbell). The movie wants to have it both ways: It preaches a condescending message of tolerance for gay people, yet it just as often makes cheap jokes at their expense. F
