Merchant provides a tutorial on what makes a standout live album: different-enough versions of the hits (''Wonder'') so skeptics feel like their money is well spent; offbeat covers (''Space Oddity'') to surprise know-it-alls; and all the spontaneity of performance with none of the self-indulgence (no talk or drum solos!). It doesn't hurt that her emotion-filled pipes can go from a whisper to a scream in six bars or less. B+
