Mute little boy Honda (Luka Petrusic) falls for hairdresser Helen (The Mummy's Weisz) just as she enters into a violent relationship with a former lover (Nivola) who was sent to prison for killing her father years earlier. While beautifully shot, this puzzle box comes apart to such unimpressive effect you can't help but wonder what happened to the fierce spark director Michael Winterbottom displayed in 1997's Welcome to Sarajevo. Reel Goodies (0:19) Honda listens in on Helen with a boom mike as she makes out on the beach. The Last Detail This was inspired by the titular Elvis Costello tune, which is heard three times.
