In contemporary Manhattan, we meet a happy-chinned newspaper columnist (Gibson Frazier) who appears to have stepped out of a white-marbled cosmopolitan talkie of the early '30s. That's a resonant gimmick, but the movie hasn't been thought out beyond the one thin, likable gag. C
