Details Lead Performance: Art of Noise

In this ambitious, flawed cultural casserole, the veteran proto-techno group The Art of Noise mix up the music and mythology of Claude Debussy in The Seduction of Claude Debussy, Sally Bradshaw's quasi-operatic singing, John Hurt's gravel velvet narration, drum-and-bass grooves, and pinches of rap into an atmospheric lather. Would Claude approve? Probably not, but we can savor the dance-driven charms amid the pretensions. B-
