Razzle Dazzle

One presumes that Poseidon Adventure star Stella Stevens, who vocalized with Elvis Presley in Girls! Girls! Girls!, knows her stuff when she describes Johnny Gault, her fictional Memphis-born rock star with gyrating hips, as a bisexual who has a penchant for wearing women's undies. Unfortunately, perhaps due to the influence of her cowriter, William Hegner, a former press agent, the roman a clef focuses not on this pseudonymous Elvis but on his far less titillating public relations team. Gossipy bones are tossed in Razzle Dazzle, albeit too infrequently, leading one to wish Stevens had simply penned a memoir about the real King. D+
