That's also the conventional wisdom about Bob and Terry. They say they want to become "entertainment entrepreneurs," but jobs abound. Sources say Daly could become baseball commissioner or a team owner, and Semel might end up in Washington: He recently hosted a fund-raiser for George W. Bush that reportedly netted $2.3 mil. Of course, Universal may beckon; Semel was once offered a job there by Seagram's chair Edgar Bronfman Jr., his pal. There's also the chance of a high-level opening at Sony, if that studio's CEO, John Calley, 69, decides to retire.

One thing's for sure: They plan to keep in touch. "Who said we're not going to see each other every day?" Semel says. "What do you think we're trying to do," adds Daly, "break up our relationship?" This could just be the continuation of a beautiful friendship.
