Known both for Proustian covers of '70s radio hits and his own majestically mopey folk-rock, head Painter Mark Kozelek is an enigma wrapped in reverb wrapped in rue. Half of this two-CD set is gleaned from his group's early-to-mid-'90s CDs (all originals save Kiss' ''Shock Me''); half are demos and live tracks from the same era. The wistfulness occasionally smacks of freshman poetry. But as sensitive boys go, Kozelek woos well. B
