Music Review: 'Into the Pink'

EW's GRADE
B-

Sure, this Dave Grohl-produced trio evokes Nirvana (lead singer Scott Bondy seems to be channeling Kurt Cobain on ''John Beverly''), but in this saccharine season of Britney 'n' Backstreet, an angst-ridden homage is a welcome relief. To make their potent retro cocktail, Verbena add a dash of Iggy Pop swagger and a measure of T. Rex power chords — and while Into the Pink isn't what you'd call original, it's loud and it rocks, and for now, that's enough.
