EDTV Matthew McConaughey, Jenna Elfman (Universal, 124 mins., PG-13, also on DVD) No matter how good or bad a movie is, if it's the second of two similar films, it's bound to suffer in the audience's eyes. There's no debating that EDtv, Ron Howard's softhearted media satire, doesn't pack the same wallop as The Truman Show, Peter Weir's deep-thinking media satire. But seen on video, without the spectre of Jim Carrey hovering about, EDtv offers a pleasantly diverting look at an engaging dullard (McConaughey) wrestling with the shackles of instant, round-the-clock fame.
