Set, like the 1997 screen adaptation that preceded it, in a hamlet unironically called Friendly, this down-home drama finds a very cute beagle warming the heart of a boozy redneck. The radical blandness of this stuff seems a side effect of its genuine good nature: Here's an easygoing morality tale. And did I mention how cute the dog is?
