Let's face it, sometimes you just gotta have Madonna's panties. Or Hans Dreier's Oscar. Or both. Well, come on down to World Collections (www.wcollect.com), friend. Since February, the L.A.-based auction site has earned tens of thousands of hits daily and challenged eBay and its ilk by dealing exclusively in entertainment collectibles. Founder Stewart Irvine's advantage is that all memorabilia from Sting's guitar to Groucho Marx's You Bet Your Life contract has been authenticated by professional experts. So don't think of it as some street-corner joker saying ''Dude, I swear they're Madonna's panties.'' Think of it as a serious dealer saying ''Dude, I swear they're Madonna's panties.'' Said skivvies, ''used in the famous candle wax sex scene!'' in Body of Evidence, have to date received bids from as far as Croatia, and Irvine expects his current coup, Dreier's art-direction statue for 1944's Frenchman's Creek, to fetch $35,000. ''It's kind of like real estate,'' he says. ''They'll appreciate if you buy high-quality products [of] the right lineage.'' Well, then, what's the bid for the signed photo of Paul McCartney's horse Cinnamon? And who made sure Cinnamon really signed it?
