Country.com's Century of Country -- Definitive Country Music Encylcopedia

As a 1995 reference book, Barry McCloud's Definitive Country: The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Country Music and Its Performers was a flawed work, rife with errors and omissions. But updated and corrected for CD-ROM, it now becomes a reliable and fun-to-use reference, with artist profiles ranging from the obligatory (Garth Brooks) to the obscure (Zella Lehr), as well as 45 audio interviews, 36 video clips, nearly 800 photographs, a selected discography for each artist, a calendar with listings of birthdays and significant events, and even such business info as managers and publicists. The navigation is somewhat convoluted (the ''back'' button doesn't always take you there), and it may not be truly definitive (where's Jamup and Honey, or Col. Tom Parker?). But there's enough here to keep even the marginal country fan just a-clickin' and a-grinnin' for days on end. B
