Mature punk might sound like an oxymoron, but on his second strong album in less than a year, the former Pixies frontman makes it sound like a viable genre. Performed with an epic, vinegary passion, Black's songs in Pistolero convey a rueful intelligence that keeps the album from becoming a new-wave retread. A-
