Really Rosie (1999)

EW's GRADE
A

Details Lead Performance: Carole King; Genres: Reissues, Soundtracks

This underappreciated gem originated as the soundtrack to a 1975 Maurice Sendak children's TV special, but don't dismiss it as just a bunch of nursery rhymes. Despite Sendak-penned lyrics about the alphabet and the perils of stubbornness, Carole King never underestimates children's ability to appreciate sophisticated songwriting. On CD for the first time (as part of a batch of King reissues), Really Rosie is a kid's album even Barney-bashing grown-ups can love. A
