Details Movie Rated: R; Genre: Drama; With: Cuba Gooding Jr., Molly Parker and Joely Richardson

In The Shadows was titled Under Heaven for its limited theatrical run, but substituting one generic title for another doesn't compensate for the fact that this bland update of The Wings of the Dove dismisses Henry James' acute dissection of class politics in favor of such po-mo grace notes as a scene in which a scheming couple and ailing heiress bond while watching Three's Company. C+
