''Phantom" numbers

We break down the the fandom stats behind the ''Star Wars'' debut

Phantom's box office figures weren't the only mind-boggling Star Wars numbers floating around last week. Menace insanity — and we do mean insanity — hit an all-time high in the days surrounding its premiere, as evidenced by the following raw data.

Number of people who legally changed their name to Obi-Wan Kenobi last week: 3 (the former James Terry Wilkowski and James-Michael Alameda, both of Tucson, Ariz., and the woman — yup, woman — formerly known as Jennifer Briggs of Durham, N.C.)

Cost of a Queen Amidala coiffure at New York's Miano/Viel Salon & Spa: $80-100 (depending on the length of your hair)

Number of customers to date who have received the Queen Amidala 'do: 6

Cost of lost productivity caused by people nationwide skipping work for Menace's premiere, as estimated by the Chicago-based firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas: $293 million

Number of people who, looking ahead to the next installment, visited www.episodeII.com during Phantom's opening week: 124,212
