No Angel (1999)

EW's GRADE
B

Details Lead Performance: Dido; Genre: Pop

On her solo debut No Angel, singer-songwriter Dido Armstrong hooks up with her brother, producer Rollo, to create a sound that is best characterized as ambient-pop Sarah McLachlan. The siblings, who last joined forces in the electro-dance band Faithless, have crafted a set of elegantly rockin' romantic yearners (''Here With Me'') and swelling-stringed emoters (''Don't Think of Me'') that, at their best, create a lovely sonic intimacy.
