Godzilla 2 (On the horizon)
Contrary to popular opinion, last summer's whipping boys — Godzilla's Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich — are still golden boys on the Sony lot. Pascal says she doesn't understand why a movie that made $400 million worldwide is perceived as a failure. ''Of course that p---es me off.... Some people didn't like Godzilla; that doesn't mean that [Devlin and Emmerich] are not terrific filmmakers.'' The duo are teaming up with Mel Gibson for next summer's action movie The Patriot, which Pascal likens to a retelling of Shane set during the American Revolution. But eventually they'll produce a more family-friendly reptile sequel for the studio. That's right, there'll be a Godzilla 2. ''If a movie makes $400 million, you make a sequel,'' says Pascal. ''It's that simple.''
