Book Review

Pop This!

EW's GRADE
B+

Details Writers: Tad Low, Woody Thompson; Genres: Music, Pop Culture

Dennis Miller once said that the American attention span is equivalent to that of a ferret on a double espresso, and judging from Pop this!, a compilation of sound bites from the creators of VH1's hit series Pop-Up Videos, he isn't far off the mark. An addictive marriage of factoids, behind-the-scenes gossip, and the music videos themselves, the show is a media junkie's dream. And the book version, featuring freeze-frames of ''popped'' works from the likes of R.E.M., Duran Duran, and (gulp!) Night Ranger is made for mindless flipping. Bonus: You'll finally find out what Phil Collins meant by ''Sussudio.'' B+
