The L.A.-based trio has been around long enough to be characterized as punk, post-punk, and neo-punk. But in these days of Limp Bizkit and Rage Against the Machine, the P-word seems barely relevant to Kim Shattuck's smashing, ever-melodious narratives in Alert Today Alive Tomorrow. Here's an idea: Leave the genre labels behind and just wallow in her beautiful barrage of pain. A-
