New York Living Rooms (1999)

Public-access porn queen Robin Byrd's is stark, virginal white. Elle Macpherson's is eclectic and comfy. Drag diva Lypsinka's is unexpectedly plain. When it comes to living spaces, a picture can be more telling than a thousand publicist-spun news items. And as captured by New York shutterbug Dominique Nabokov, the rooms somehow spin stories of their own: How does Quentin Crisp sleep in that tangled, linty mess of a bed? Could Barbara Taylor Bradford's room have any more shades of pink? Alas, the remainder of New York Living Rooms isn't as engaging, comprising predictable, tastefully decorated shots of glitterati abodes. B
