Writer-director Willard Carroll shuffles struggling couples for this series of duets, in which each pair (including Gillian Anderson/Jon Stewart, Gena Rowlands/Sean Connery, and Angelina Jolie/Ryan Phillippe) wears their quirks so brightly, they might as well be dressed in safety orange. It's neat to see Connery and Rowlands purring and growling like the Lion King and Queen. And it's cool to see Jolie in anything; she stands out like a skyscraper in this low-rise landscape.
