Shooting Fish (1999)

Two expert flimflam men fleece the rich in order to buy themselves a mansion. For about an hour, director Stefan Schwartz manages a tricky Richard Lester-meets-Danny Boyle jauntiness, with Dan Futterman (The Birdcage) engagingly oily and the various scams reasonably diverting. Once Kate Beckinsale's no-nonsense accomplice starts diverting the funds toward her home for people with Down syndrome, however, Shooting Fish becomes soggier than the bottom of the proverbial barrel.
