Real-life rock-star noir. Predicated on the investigation of the (dubious) notion that the 1994 death of Nirvana's Kurt Cobain was not a suicide, Nick Broomfield's transfixing feature Kurt and Courtney airs articulate interviews with junkies, flunkies, and folks in the know, charting both the supernova flameout of self-destructive Cobain and the rising star of his widow, Courtney Love, the self-inventing musician/model/actress. Broomfield's sensibility is part tabloid, part F. Scott Fitzgerald. B+
