My favorite part of Tekken — the hit videogame series — is the computer-animated movielet that precedes the virtual asskicking. In translating the game into a film, the masterminds in animé-happy Japan ape Enter the Dragon (martial artists meet on a remote island, duel, then vanquish a patriarchal villain), this spin-off, Tekken: The Motion Picture, saps every atom of magic from its source. What was once an evocative, battle-hardened haiku has become a punch-drunk, derivative Saturday-morning cartoon. C
