Trumpeter Blanchard's an old hand when it comes to scoring films; he's responsible for the music in much of Spike Lee's recent work. Here he pays spirited homage to earlier scores that incorporated jazz elements, including A Streetcar Named Desire, Chinatown, and Taxi Driver. Fleshing out the distinctive themes are such A-list improvisers as saxophonist Joe Henderson and trombonist Steve Turre. B
